Hey guys. The article is entitled "Authentic Mexican" but it is actually "Mexican Styled" dishes. There is a huge distinction between the Mexican influenced Tex-Mex and So Cal dishes presented here. There is nothing wrong with the recommendations, many are just not really Mexican. I come to Saveur because it the best food and food culture magazine available in the English speaking world. But you have to do better by "Authentic Mexican."

There are so many variations on Mexican food, especially in the US, Tex-Mex, New Mexican Mex, Colorado Mex, and Californian Mex, while I spent a chunk of time living in Santa Fe and really enjoyed their traditional version of Mexican Food from Breakfast Chalupas, and home-made Tamales sold in the flea-market, Chile Rellenos, to Hearty Huevos Rancheros, I have to say I like the Californian Mex the best, perhaps the authentic Mexican fare of Mole and making a real tortilla is something to be appreciated but not for everyone.
