Pro Line Toaster

After several months of making toast in frying pans and the oven (or not at all) since our basic old toaster broke, the arrival of a shiny new KitchenAid Pro Line Toaster has everyone drooling here in the SAVEUR test kitchen. Not only is this heavyweight toaster a gorgeous piece of hardware on our counter, but it gets an "A+" for functionality. It automatically senses bread when you put it in the slot, and lowers it to start toasting, then raises the bread once finished. Want your toast a little more brown? No problem, just hit the "A Little Longer" button. Want to keep your toast warm while you grab your favorite jam or finish frying your eggs? Done—there's an automatic function you can set to keep your toast or bagel heated for up to 3 minutes after toasting. We've been finding every excuse possible to make toast now, just to marvel at this appliance in action.
