NOAH FECKS

Warmly spiced with cinnamon and rich with vanilla, these free-form brownie drops from Wall Street Journal food editor Beth Kracklauer are a simple, one-bowl way to fill your home with the aroma of chocolate.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz. German chocolate
  • 1 tbsp. unsalted butter
  • 34 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 14 cup flour
  • 14 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 14 tsp. baking powder
  • 14 tsp. kosher salt
  • 34 cup finely chopped walnuts
  • 12 tsp. vanilla extract

Instructions

Step 1

Heat oven to 350°. Combine chocolate and butter in a bowl and microwave until melted; set aside. In a bowl, beat sugar and eggs on medium-high speed of a mixer until thickened and tripled in volume. Add melted chocolate, and then add flour, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt; beat until just combined.

Step 2

Stir in nuts and vanilla, and using a teaspoon, drop small balls of dough onto parchment paper-lined baking sheets, and bake until cracked and just set, about 8 minutes.
