best of web seal Carrot and Parsnip Crumble

Don’t think for a second that crumbles are only for dessert. This recipe celebrates the abundant root vegetables in markets right now, and is a great pairing with hearty meat dishes.

FROM THE RECIPE:

Anyway, it's totally comforting, ridiculously easy (if you have a food processor. You know, the sort I Don't Have At Uni with me. I used a masher and tore up the breadcrumbs by hand) and extremely cheap, which gives me a good feeling about my ability to look after myself in the big wide world. Oh, and healthy, don't forget that. Don't let those Death Months strike you down, as we say up North.

This recipe sounds fantastic, but... I emailed the creator about the conversions and never heard from her. The equivalents I found do not sound accurate: 100 grams bread crumbs - .435 cups; 675 grams carrot - 3 cups; 450 grams parsnip - 2 cups; 75 grams cheese - 1/3 cup; 25 grams - parmesan - 1/8 cup. Does anyone have a more accurate conversion than that found on-line? Maybe then I can figure out what size baking dish to use. I really would love to make this dish.

I haven't made this...yet, but just from reading through the recipe, my mouth is watering.

hikerpat - it helps if you know that 1 ounce equals 28.35 grams, so you would need about 4 oz of bread crumbs, 1 1/2 lbs of carrots, 1 lb of parsnips, 2 oz of cheddar and and not quite 1 oz of Parmesan.

I'm guessing here, but I think a 2 qt. baking dish would work.
