Dutch Oven Cocktail
In this updated take on the Old Fashioned from Katie Emmerson of Boston's craft cocktail bar The Hawthorne, barrel-aged Bols Genever is mixed with two types of bitters and a touch of absinthe for a drink that is throughly modern and compelling. INGREDIENTS2 sugar cubes3 dashes Peychaud's bitters
1 dash orange bitters
3 drops absinthe
1 capful soda water
2 oz. Barrel Aged Bols Genever
INSTRUCTIONS1. Place sugar cubes, bitters, and soda water in a mixing glass. Muddle into a smooth paste. Add Genever, ice, and stir.
2. Strain into a chilled tumbler over a large ice cube or ice ball. Squeeze grapefruit twist over the top and rub around the rim and serve.
