Nutmeg Syrup

MAKES 1 CUP

Warm nutmeg syrup makes a nice garnish to French vanilla ice cream or fluffy pancakes. For a thicker consistency use less water.

1⁄2 cup sugar
1 tsp. flour
1 tbsp. butter
2 tsp. freshly grated nutmeg

1. Combine sugar and flour in a saucepan over medium heat and whisk in 1 cup boiling water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and stir until syrup is slightly thickened.

2. Beat in butter and nutmeg and serve warm.
