Ommegang Abbey Ale
A rich, fruity, and aromatic Bungandian brew.
Ommegang Abbey Ale is directly influenced by the patience and wisdom of the Trappist monks, who ever seek divine union — a pretty high standard for a beer, but a good one. The Abbey Ale is deep burgundy color, rich and malty, with aromas of anise, fresh apricot, chocolate and honey, topped by a dense tan head. Rich on the palate but with a dry finish, it develops wonderful caramel, fig, and currant notes with age. Enjoy Ommegang Abbey Ale with savory dishes, slow-cooked pork, marinated roasts, barbecue, rich cheeses, and almost every dessert.
Aroma: Malty, sweet with hints of caramelized sugars and honey. Rich, fruity, aromatic, burgundian brew and deep to the nose.
Taste: Complex malt richness and fruit flavors, with hints of spice and a smooth body of dark sweetness. Champagne style carbonation led to it finishing slightly dry with a touch more sweetness.
Mouthfeel: Smooth, full body, creamy from beginning to end. Robust.
Finish: Drying with a hint of residual malt sweetness. Very warming.
