How to Peel Chestnuts

Peeling chestnuts—spending hours scraping membrane away from the meat—can take all of the fun out of this delicious custom. Instead, cut an "X" on the nuts' flat side, wrap them in foil with a little water, and steam them in the oven so their skins slip easily away.
