A familiar refrain that New Yorkers hear from expat Californians is that the city doesn't have quality Mexican food. New York can't necessarily compete with the expanse of the fantastic Mexican food that California has, but the city still holds its own. Case in point: the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn is well-known for a good number of joints where I can walk in and order a carne asada taco that packs plenty of flavor, and can stand up to (almost) any Californian counterpart. Wow, setting the bar low I see. California has some very nice Mexican food, but Texas by far has the best in the United States. Any random tacqueria all the way up to white clothed upscale Mexican is always a pleasure. If that carne asado taco can merely 'stand up' to a California counterpart, I don't think it would be tasty enough!
