I have a pretty serious taco truck addiction, and also love eating authentic Mexican delights made from local, sustainable ingredients. Nopalito in the Lower Haight is making my dreams come true. Born of staff meals at the deeply yummy restaurant Nopa, the sister restaurant has prices that are not quite taco-truck cheap, but definitely reasonable, worthy enough to warrant a lengthy review in the San Francisco Chronicle. And if you're craving tacos after reading the review,  but are nowhere near San Francisco, here's a fish taco recipe to tide you over.

Marissa Guggiana is a Bay Area local, the president of Sonoma Direct Sustainable Meats, and an editor with Meatpaper magazine.

I live in the Santa Cruz area and have frequented all the popular Hispanic restaurants over the last 25 years. I visit SF about 4 times a month always wanting to find new and affordable restaurants. I visited Nopalito about 4 months after it opened and found it to be a 9 for taste and originality. Sitting outside made it an extra special experience. Service was more than adequate with no undesirable events. I've been there 2x since the 1st visit and have no qualms about going there once again.
