MAKES 2
Created in the 1870s at the Manhattan Club, on the island of the same name, this cocktail was first served at a banquet hosted by Lady Jennie Churchill, Sir Winston Churchill's mother.
5 oz. bourbon
2 oz. sweet vermouth
6 dashed Angostura bitters
2 maraschino cherries
1. Fill 2 stemmed cocktail glasses with crushed ice, then set aside to chill.
2. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice cubes, then add bourbon, vermouth, and bitters. Stir well.
3. Pour ice out of glasses, then strain drink into chilled glasses. Garnish each with a maraschino cherry.
