  • Saveur.com senior editor Helen Rosner mentioned something earlier this week about the awesome-looking food gifts curated by New York Mouth (pictured here), but I didn't check them out until I saw the same site mentioned on the First We Feast gift guide. With a dizzying array of mouthwatering options on display, you'll probably find an excuse (as I did) to buy a few extra Christmas presents for your food-loving friends and family. —Cory Baldwin

  • Jonathan Gold's food quizzes over at the LA Times website are a totally delightful time-suck. I lost the better part of yesterday morningtesting my knowledge of weights and measures (what's the volume ofa yard of ale?) to pancakes (what's a defining characteristic of bánh xèo)? If you're a compulsive test-taker like me, you'll want tobookmark this link—new quizzes go up every week.  —Karen Shimizu

  • Where have all New York's boozy novelists gone? Brooklyn, probably, but New York Times book critic Dwight Garner is committed to finding what remains of literary Manhattan. He takes a tour of the island's old haunts and new hangouts—most of them bars, or bar-adjacent—and finds that at least a few options remain for the dedicated seeker of the bookish drinking scene. —Helen Rosner

  • My mouth was watering as I read this story on Haaretz.com about all of the inventive flavors of sufganiyot, the doughnuts traditionally made on Hanukkah, being dreamed up by bakers in Israel this year. Pistachio custard, halvah cream, baked brioche with strawberry jam… mmm. —Gabriella Gershenson

  • As a potato chip fiend, I found news of a Pepsi- and chicken-flavored Lays chip in China in this week's LAtimes strangely appealing. Apparently "cola chicken" is a national Chinese dish, and I'm betting the sweet and salty flavors are especially delicious on a thinly fried potato. —Maria Yagoda
