Grapes add a pop of sweetness to all sorts of dishes

We love grapes—they add a pop of sweetness to salsas, salads, and pie fillings. Grape jam and juice are great for adding sweetness to dishes or making homemade soda. However you want to use the fruit, we've rounded up our favorite grape recipes.

Pies are a wonderful vehicle for many fruits, grapes included. Our grape pie recipe comes from Irene Bouchard, the so-called Grape Pie Queen of Naples, New York. The filling is dead-simple:grapes, sugar, butter, and a little tapioca for extra body. Grapes also can complement other fruits in pie fillings—in our plum pie, grape jelly amps up the flavor of the stone fruit.

Most home cooks wouldn't think of making their own soda, but it's fun and easy to make. Our Concord grape soda is a simple mixture of grape juice, water, and sugar. Champagne yeast carbonates the soda. For a more grown-up effervescent drink, try our Arbor Blush cocktail. To make it, grapes are muddled with Lillet Rosé and pisco, shaken, and topped off with sparkling rosé.

Grapes are a pleasant sweetness to savory dishes. Try making our grape focaccia from Abruzzo, Italy. The dough is studded with red and green grapes—they burst as it cooks, releasing their juices into the bread. Or use grapes in a light, refreshing salsa made with cherry tomatoes, cilantro, and honey. For a fancy appetizer, make goose liver terrines and top them with a grape gelée.
