My last visit to San Francisco had been during the peak of the 'brown season' in California, and the parched hills and near-constant fog of that trip had left a Tatooine-like impression of the city by the bay on my brain. Not so this time—the drive out to Sonoma, and the Ramekins Culinary School & Inn was nothing short of breathtaking—everything in full bloom and fragrant. I was heading to Ramekins, a culinary school and bed-and-breakfast in the heart of Sonoma, to participate in a culinary retreat, and I was heady with anticipation of all of the delights awaiting me over the course of the next few days.
