If I look at a recipe, when I come back to the gallery, it is back at the first picture. While I might not mind this a whole lot in a gallery of 10 or even 15 pictures, there is no way I am going to go through 50 photos if I have to keep starting back at the beginning.

Am I doing something wrong or is this really the way it works?

I've been having this same problem since I joined this website. I find it extremely frustrating. Some of the other recipe websites that I receive don't have this problem.

That can certainly be frustrating. I right-click the link and open it in a new tab or window. This saves your place in the gallery while you read the recipe. When you're done, you can go back to the gallery where you left off.

Most websites have thumbnail options...easy to see pics and choose your recipe of interest....Takes too long to go through slideshow...obsolete

I agree. This has to be made more user friendly. It is so annoying to be brought back to the first recipe every time you research a picture in the gallery.

I agree with the other commenters. Please Saveur, take our suggestions to heart. For now I will follow TawandaLou's advice (don't know why I'd never thought of it before); but it's frustrating enough that I give up, and don't go back to read the rest of the piece. Thumbnails would make our lives so much easier, and it would stop the endless complaints about this issue.
