Recipe Comix: Nibblies

"Draw us a recipe." That's the brief we sent to a slew of our favorite comic artists; each week, we're thrilled to present what they sent back. The resulting works of art are fantastic, beautiful, hilarious, thoughtful, informative, and often all of the above — and they prove that a recipe doesn't just have to be words on paper.

Today's comic is Allen Yuen's second for Recipe Comix—he previously depicted the wonders of thrice-cooked bacon. Allen is the general manager at New York's delightfully eclectic restaurant Mission Chinese Food (the first east coast outpost of the famed San Francisco spot). When he's not working the front of the house at his day job, Allen makes autobiographical comics inspired by his food-filled life. Here, he shares his loves for nibblies, rice topped with the delectable smoky scraps leftover from Mission's broccoli beef brisket, which are now an object of obsession for the restaurant's staff.
