Watch Master Knife-Maker Bob Kramer in Action

Paul Adams

We've never been in a position to drop $10,000 on a kitchen knife, but if we found ourselves with some extra cash lying around, the first person we'd call would be Bob Kramer. Kramer hand-forges one-of-a-kind tools that have multi-year waiting lists; now, thanks to a new partnership with Henckels, a version of his high-carbon, 52100 tool steel knives are available at a significantly more attainable price point (you can find them at Sur La Table). In promotion of the line, he stopped by Popular Science's office to slice the heck out of things like filled water bottles and unopened cans of soda.
