The fail-proof Negroni calls for equal parts gin, Campari, and vermouth; it’s clean, potent, and flawless.
- 1 oz. Campari
- 1 oz. gin
- 1 oz. sweet vermouth
- 1-inch by 1.5-inch slice of orange peel from a ripe orange, for garnish
Stir the first three ingredients together in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Strain into a coupe glass.
Garnish the drink: Holding a lit match in one hand and the peel in the other, squeeze the peel over both the match and glass, so the oils from the peel briefly flare up. Set the match aside and drop the twist in the drink.
