  • Serves

    makes About 1 Cup

HELEN ROSNER

This boozy, flavorful simple syrup is a quick way to deepen the flavors while adding sweetness to almost any cocktail. It was developed by Seattle mixologist Andrew Bohrer as a component of his Courting Rachel, an Old Fashioned doused in fresh hickory smoke.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rye whiskey
  • 1 cup sugar

Instructions

Step 1

In a medium saucepan, warm whiskey and sugar until sugar is fully dissolved, stirring occasionally. Cool to room temperature and pour into an airtight container. The simple syrup will keep for several months in the refrigerator.
