Making a splash over Memorial Day weekend, the Kohler Festival of Beer filled the American Club resort and allied restaurants. With more than a dozen events, the Kohler Festival of Beer celebrates the culinary appreciation of craft beer:

Chocolate and Beer
Craverie's Rare Facets chocolates are richly colored gems (see the "necklace"), as delicious as they are colorful. A sampling of chocolates and a Central Waters Mud Puppy Porter made a tasty pairing at the Craverie cafe.

Cheers to Beers
Kohler's Design Center overflowed with beer fans during Saturday evening's grand tasting, Cheers to Beers. The event featured more than 50 different breweries, artisan cheeses from Wisconsin, scads of specialty foods and beer-glazed cakes and pastries catered by the American Club.

Shorts & Chefs
Despite casual attire—chefs wore shorts—the fare was refined at the Shorts and Chefs grilling event. Local and regional restaurants, including chefs from the American Club, Dream Dance, the Iron Horse Hotel, 52 Stafford, the Paddock Club, raised the bar for creative cook-outs.

Kohler's Group Director of Culinary Arts, Ulrich Koberstein says that the Festival is a natural counterpart to fall's Kohler Food and Wine Experience. "Wisconsin has so many wonderful breweries and our chefs appreciate the artistry of craft brewing. Chefs and brewers have a lot in common, working with fresh ingredients and seasonal flavors, and in Wisconsin, it's a heritage worth celebrating."

Photographer Lucy Saunders edits the website beercook.com and thinks of beer as food.
