INGALLS PHOTOGRAPHY

This refreshing amaro-and-vermouth-based cocktail—a twist on the classic Americano—from New York City's Amor y Amargo offers big notes of orange, cinnamon, and pine, with a touch of anise from a couple dashes of absinthe. We love Imbue Petal & Thorn vermouth for its bold, citrusy flavor, but you can substitute any other sweet vermouth. This recipe first appeared in our November 2014 issue with the story Vermouth on the Rise.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. Braulio Amaro Alpino liqueur
  • 2 oz. vermouth (preferably Imbue Petal & Thorn)
  • 2 dashes absinthe
  • 2 dashes orange bitters
  • Club soda, to top

Instructions

Step 1

Stir Braulio Amaro Alpino liqueur, vermouth, absinthe and orange bitters in an ice-filled collins glass; top with club soda.
