This cocktail, composed of grenadine, cardamom, fresh mint, and boukha, a Tunisian fig distillate, comes from Jerusalem's Casino de Paris. Located in a former brothel that’s tucked into a courtyard in the city’s central market, Machane Yehuda, Casino de Paris boasts some of the holy city’s most stupendous sips.
Ingredients
- 1 oz. boukha (Tunisian spirit made from figs)
- 1 oz. fresh lemon juice
- 1⁄2 oz. grenadine
- Ground cardamom, for garnish
- Mint sprig, for garnish
- Pomegranate seeds, for garnish
Instructions
Step 1
Combine boukha, lemon juice, and grenadine in an ice-filled shaker. Shake vigorously and strain into a rocks glass filled with crushed ice. Sprinkle with cardamom; garnish with mint sprig and pomegranate seeds.
