Milk Punch

Milk Punch Credit: Penny De Los Santos

MAKES 1

A frothy, soothing eye-opener, this milk punch cocktail gets foamier the longer you shake it.

2 oz. milk
2 oz. half-and-half
2 tsp. superfine sugar
1 1/2 oz. VSOP cognac
1/2 tsp. absinthe or green Chartreuse
1/8 tsp. grated nutmeg

1. Combine milk, half-and-half, and sugar in a cocktail shaker; stir to dissolve sugar.

2. Add cognac, absinthe or green Chartreuse, and 1 cup cracked ice; cover and shake for15–20 seconds.

3. Strain into a highball glass full of ice and sprinkle nutmeg over top.

Just finished one. Yum. I didn't have half and half on hand, so only used Organic whole milk. It turned out plenty frothy and creamy, I probably won't bother with the half and half when I make it again in the future. Slightly sweet, and very aromatic with the freshly grated nutmeg tickling your nose with each sip. Lovely served in a coupe.

What a fun drink! I was just browsing and saw this. It is delicious. I had half and half but I just used whole milk and I had dumb old brandy and absinthe. Good stuff -- Cheers!
