1 small yellow onion, finely chopped
1 small green bell pepper, cored, seeded,
   and finely chopped
1 lb. ground beef
1 cup ketchup
2 tbsp. mustard
1 tbsp. white vinegar
1 tbsp. sugar
1⁄2 tsp. ground cloves
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Hamburger buns

1. Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onions and peppers and cook until softened, about 15 minutes. Add ground beef and cook until browned, 6–8 minutes. Add ketchup, mustard, vinegar, sugar, and cloves.

2. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and cook, stirring occasionally, until thick and dark, 25–30 minutes. (Degrease, if desired.) Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve on buttered, toasted hamburger buns.

a) used med ground, bad idea, way too much fat

b) the clove was too strong for kids, and let's face it, you use kids as an excuse to make this kind of food, so they better like it.

Sloppy Joe from Sandwich issue is much better. For my tastebuds too.
