Black mission fig bitters from Brooklyn Hemispherical Bitters and a cinnamon simple syrup are at once spicy, smoky, and sweet when mixed with grapefruit juice and blended Scotch whiskey, conjuring a sense of a long winter coming to an end, with a hint of spring in sight. This cocktail was inspired by a similar drink created by mixologist Lynnette Marrero.

makes 1 cocktail

For the Cinnamon Syrup

1 cup sugar
1 stick cinnamon

For the Cocktail

1 12 oz. blended whiskey
1 oz. grapefruit juice
12 oz. cinnamon syrup
12 oz. lemon juice
2 dashes Black Mission Fig bitters

Instructions

MAKE THE CINNAMON SYRUP: In a saucepan, bring the sugar and cinnamon stick to a boil with one cup of water, remove from heat and let sit until cool.
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, shake all ingredients. Strain into a tumbler filled with fresh ice and serve.
