Hefeweizen is a style of German wheat beer that features high carbonation and low hops, which produces smooth but bubbly beers with slightly sweet, fruity flavors. Traditional German yeasts, which remain in the bottle and create the beer's hazy glow, help produce notes of spicy clove, banana and nutmeg. American Hefeweizens are usually subtler than their German counterparts and are frequently served with a squeeze of lemon.
