Print Save Recipe

MAKES 1

Sweet-salty-sour li hing mui powder (see Puckery Plums for more on li hing mui, or Chinese dried plums) pulls double duty by both flavoring this cocktail and decorating the rim of the glass.

1 tbsp. li hing mui powder
2 oz. sweet and sour mix
1 oz. vodka
3⁄4 oz. Kahlúa

1. Put li hing mui powder on a small plate. Moisten a clean paper towel with water and run it around the rim of a martini glass. Dip the rim of the martini glass in the li hing mui powder, tap off any excess, and set the glass aside.

2. Put sweet and sour mix, vodka, Kahlúa, and a pinch of li hing mui powder into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Cover and give the cocktail shaker several vigorous shakes. Strain the cocktail into the martini glass.
