12 Days of Holiday Sweets: Rice Pudding, A Midnight Snack

For many children, Christmas wouldn't be complete without the preparation and presentation of a plate of cookies, or even a bowl of candy, for Santa. In Sweden, as we learned recently, children put out rice pudding before going to bed on Christmas Eve, and if we were sliding down a chimney on a freezing cold night, we'd certainly appreciate this treat, too. Flavored with fresh oranges and plenty of cream and sugar, and topped with warm fruit preserves, this is the kind of dessert we'd like to settle into almost any night, Christmas or not. —The Editors
