Celebrating the 1-Year Anniversary of the Garlic Video

Exactly one year ago, we posted an Ask the Test Kitchen video of our executive food editor Todd Coleman demonstrating his lightening-quick technique for peeling garlic: Break up the head of garlic with the heel of your hand, and then vigorously "shake the dickens out of it" between two bowls. Over 3.5 million views and a full year later, the video continues to reach new audiences, and we're still amazed by the enthusiastic response. Everyone, it seems, wants to try the garlic trick—and what's more, everyone wants to share it when they pull it off. Over the course of the past year, we've been thrilled to see dozens of home cooks documenting the technique.
