Plum-Basil Gin Fizz
Everyone will love this herby, fruity rendition of the classic cocktail.
- Makes
1 cocktail
- Time
5 minutes

With their smooth, tart skin and luscious flesh that tastes progressively sweeter after picking, plums add bright flavor to this summery riff on the classic gin fizz. While we’re partial to red plums for their sweet tang, which contrasts nicely with the peppery basil, you can use any variety you like.
Ingredients
- 5 large basil leaves, plus more for garnish
- 1 plum, half finely chopped, half thinly sliced
- 2 oz. gin
- 1 oz. simple syrup
- Seltzer, for topping
- Lime wedge, for garnish
Instructions
Step 1
- In a cocktail shaker, muddle the basil and chopped plum. Fill the shaker with ice, then add the gin and simple syrup and shake well until chilled, about 1 minute. To a rocks glass, add the sliced plum, then strain the cocktail into the glass. Top with seltzer and garnish with a lime wedge and more basil leaves.
