A sweet, hearty thank you to all our readers who submitted recipes to our Home Cook Challenge: Pie contest. We’re pleased to announce the winning recipe, submitted by SAVEUR user LadyBird (a.k.a. Jennifer Latham), who will be receiving a $500 gift card to Sur La Table.
This month’s winner is a sweet treat with just a hint of tartness: of the quince and pear pie, Jennifer says, “I impulse-buy fruit, and then end up with all this beautiful treasure that I have to find something to do with. This recipe does take a whole afternoon, what with cooking the quince, but the house ends up smelling like autumnal Eden and the deep rosy jewel-box of a pie is, I think, well worth it.”
