Julia’s Chocolate Mousse

While the movie Julie and Julia cooks its way through the box office, it's only appropriate to pay homage to a woman who turned America away from the box of chocolate pudding mix and onto happier things, such as real chocolate (gasp!) and raw eggs (double gasp!) to make a decadent mousse au chocolat. Here's Julia Child's Perfect Chocolate Mousse, a recipe adapted by David Lebovitz from the original masterpiece. Whipped entirely by hand, this dessert requires some muscle. In a short time, though, you're able to create a dessert that is as comforting as the boxed chocolate pudding of yore—but one that's infinitely more sophisticated.
