A Mexican-Inspired Thanksgiving

The flavors of Mexico are now as much a part of our national palette as traditional roast turkey and apple pie. This year, add some spice to your thanksgiving table with chile-rubbed turkey, brussel sprouts with chorizo, and Oaxacan stuffing. These dishes feel at home next to southwestern favorites like Texan-style queso dip and jalapeno cornbread, and carry enough variety of flavor, from sweet to spicy to savory, to have something for everyone.

The Menu

More About This Menu

  1. This mexican-style tomato salsa is a perfect compliment to chile-con-queso and tortilla chips, but check out our gallery of Mexican salsas for alternate (or additional) recipes.

  2. To produce juicy breasts and tender thighs, Oaxacan-based cookbook author Susan Trilling flips the turkey (so the breast sits on the bottom) one hour into cooking. Read more about Trilling's Oaxacan Thanksgiving Feast.

  3. To allow the dessert to fully set, Aunt Renee's Gelatin Mold should be made one full day ahead.

  4. Rum-spiked Mexican eggnog is a rich, thick, delicious alternative to the store-bought stuff. A nutty Horchata made with pumpkin seeds, almonds, and dark chocolate is great for those who wish to imbibe something sweet but prefer to forego alcohol.

  5. See our collection of Mexican-Style Thanksgiving Ideas for even more menu inspiration.
