I've been trying out alternative pestos. My favourite currently is almond and parsley. I process sliced almonds, flat leaf parsley, garlic, olive oil and parmesan. Tonight I'm serving it with some broad bean - fava - gnocchi as you will see at www.tasteforbologna.blogspot.com

Thank you for educating Saveur readers about the multitude of delicious pestos! One of our favorites is pesto siciliano, southern neighbor to the pesto calabrese featured in the article. Did they mean "chives" in the sentence "If you can't find scapes, substitute green garlic or a combination of garlic and gives." If that's not a typo, what the heck are "gives."
