All About Eve

postcard-decanter

It's a good day in the office whenever we get to do a little wine tasting — even more so when it's a really terrific wine (like Sequoia Grove's deep, masculine 2007 Cambium) served out of a really terrific vessel. Riedel's Eve decanter is a sinuous, snakelike whorl of glass that delivers the equivalent of eight hours of aeration after just a few minutes of rotating the decanter, the wine cascading infinitely through the spiral. It was mesmerizing to watch, almost as good as drinking the gorgeously open Napa blend that poured out. —Helen Rosner
