Crumpets—British yeasted griddle cakes popular alongside tea or as a snack—are made from a sticky dough fried in a ring mold. Here's how to shape and cook them. See the recipe for Crumpets »

Heat a 12" cast-iron skillet over medium; place a greased 4" ring mold in pan. Fill with ⅓ cup batter.
Using a wet spoon, spread batter evenly into greased ring mold, pushing batter into sides of the mold.
Cook crumpet until bubbles appear on the surface, about 6 minutes; carefully remove ring.
