This summery gin-based cocktail is an ideal vehicle for sweet red plums and fragrant basil.

Ingredients

  • 5 large basil leaves, plus more for garnish
  • 1 red plum, half finely chopped, half thinly sliced
  • 2 oz. gin
  • 1 oz. simple syrup
  • Seltzer, for topping
  • Lime wedge, for garnish

Instructions

Step 1

In a cocktail shaker, muddle the basil and chopped plum. Fill the shaker with ice, then add the gin and simple syrup and shake well until chilled, about 1 minute. To a rocks glass, add the sliced plum, then strain the cocktail into the glass. Top with seltzer and garnish with a lime wedge and more basil leaves.
