Warm nutmeg syrup makes a nice garnish to French vanilla ice cream or fluffy pancakes. For a thicker consistency use less water.
- 1⁄2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp. flour
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 2 tsp. freshly grated nutmeg
- Combine sugar and flour in a saucepan over medium heat and whisk in 1 cup boiling water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and stir until syrup is slightly thickened.
- Beat in butter and nutmeg and serve warm.
