This old-school cocktail is meant to be slugged back in a single gulp. It was long believed to be a cure-all for everything from hangovers to stomachaches. This version is based on one that appears in the Standard Bartender's Guide by Patrick Gavin Duffy (PocketBooks, 1933).

Ingredients

  • 1 oz. brandy
  • 12 tsp. white wine vinegar
  • 14 tsp. Worcestershire
  • 14 tsp. Tabasco
  • 1 egg

Instructions

Combine brandy, vinegar, worcestershire, and Tabasco in an old-fashioned or rocks glass. Stir to combine; carefully crack an egg into the center of glass.
