Rum and ginger liqueur lend a tropical note to Hana Makgeolli brewer Alice Jun’s refreshing twist cocktail. For this recipe, seek out an undiluted, premium version of the Korean rice beverage, such as Jun’s Takju 16.

Ingredients

  • 4 oz. undiluted makgeolli, such as Hana Makgeolli Takju 16
  • 2 oz. ginger liqueur, such as Domaine de Canton
  • 2 oz. white rum
  • Lemon peel, for garnish

Instructions

Step 1

To a mixing glass filled halfway with ice, add the makgeolli, ginger liqueur, and rum. Stir until well chilled, about 15 seconds. Strain into a collins glass, garnish with a lemon peel, and serve.
