Make your own decaf tea using ingredients from your spice rack. We especially like this saffron tea, garnished, as it typically is in India, with almonds. This recipe first appeared in our 2015 SAVEUR 100.
- ¼ tsp. saffron threads
- 3 green cardamom pods
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 tbsp. sugar
- 6 thinly sliced blanced almonds
Bring 3 cups water, saffron threads, green cardamom pods, and cinnamon stick to a simmer over medium-high. Cook until color of tea is golden amber, 2–3 minutes. Divide sugar and almonds between glasses; pour tea on top.
